Infidelity kills
There is this weird self sufficient island away from our nice world. There's a custom in this island which requires a woman to kill her husband the morning after she discovers that he's having an affair with another woman.
It also happens that every woman KNOWS whether EVERY other man is having an affair or not except her own husband. The Qeer thing is they are NOT suppose to talk to each other about this point. And ofcourse some men in the island ARE having affairs with the wives of other men. So life in this island goes on peacefully since no woman can know for sure that her own husband is cheating on her. Unfortunately, an Oracle visits the island one day and proclaims that at least one man in this island is having an affair.
Question: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THIS ?
* The interesting thing about this problem is on a first reading the Oracle's info no useful information in the island that has more than one unfaithful man

There is only 1 man and 2 women. He's married to one and having an affair with the other.
The only women her husband is cheating doesn't knows he's cheating (but all the rest knows..). the next days she will kill her husband.. because now she knows that there are cheatings on the island..
how do they know their husband(s) is cheating?

There are 4 people on the island (2 couples). Since one woman knows she is not having an affair with the other husband, it has to be her husband that is having the affair with the other woman.
It turns out that everyone is having an affair, including the women. case solved, damn horny bastards >.O
If n is the number of the cheaters, the nth day after the oracle visit all the cheated women will kill their husband.

What ever happened to "What they don't know won't hurt them?" The women kill all the men, then kill the Oracle for screwing up the perfectly happy island.
OR
The Oracle uploads the videos if infidelity on YouTube, and all the women become lesbians.

Whhat about the kids on the island? What if they catch daddy screwing the hairdresser while mommy's on vacation? This Secrey of infidelity rule is screwed form the beginning!
Nothing will happen because the oracle said that at least one man in this island is having an affair, but didn't say married man, so the man may be not married.
The third anonymous poster is correct. If n is the number of men having an affair then in n days every wife of the men having affairs will kill their husband.
For example, if there are 100 married couples and 15 men are having affairs then 85 women know that 15 men are having an affair, while the other 15 women, not knowing their own husband is having an affair, think that 14 men are having an affair.
Thus on the day after the Oracle gives her proclimation no one dies (if only one man had cheated then he would be dead because his wife would know a man is cheating and also know that none of the other husbands were cheating). Thus with no one dying then it guarantees at least two men are cheating.
On the second day (n=2) no one would die but it guarantees that 3 men are cheating given that no one died that morning. And so on and so forth until the 14th day when if no one died in the morning then it would guarantee at least 15 men were cheating. But 15 of the women had only thought 14 men were cheating and thus would now know that their husband must be the 15th man. So the next morning on the 15th day after the Oracle's proclimation those 15 men are killed by their wives.
In this example we have to assume their are no unmarried people on the island or we have to assume that the word affair only applies to married people.
@Shannon: You are assuming that all 15 cheated women understand mathematics enough to work this out ;-). I'm sure most of the cheating men also would have a hard time figuring out what the Oracle said.

If there is 1 man unfaithful he will die the 2nd day
But simillarly if there is 2 men
That one man will not die the 2nd day so everybody knows there is two men
so both of them dies the third day
And so on if we have 'n' men unfaithful
Till the nth day every body waits for n-1 men to die
but since nobody dies on nth day that means 'n' men are unfaithful so all of them dies on the 'n+1' th day
The oracle info does not add any new information but gives a starting point to the whole phenomenon.
