The day after tomorrow is wednesday, so tomorrow is tuesday. today is monday, and yesterday is sunday, therefore the day before yesterday is saturday.
its saturday because yesterday would be sunday, the day before tomorrow would be monday, tomorrow would be tuesday, and the day after tomorrow is wednesday.

lets state this as a math problem, the day before yesterday is -2, because before yesterday was 2 days ago, then the day after tomorrow is +2, cuz thats 2 days away, so by doing -2 + 2 = 0.
now to put it to days, but read the problem backwards. wed, +1 day thru, +1 day fri, -1 day thru, and -1 more day =

If you're still a little confused. try reading it word for word instead of just a phase of words ie. Day before yesterday is 2 days ago

To this end, in order to make your formula work, the question would have to be phrased thusly:
"What day came before yesterday if the day after the day that came after it is Wednesday?" OR more eloquently: "Consider the day before yesterday - Were that day today, what day would it be if the day after tomorrow were Wednesday?"

Let's make it complicated. Use "the day after tomorrow" as a variable that needs an assigned value by using today as a constant.
So...
If today is Thursday (0) and the day after tomorrow is wednesday, then thats +6 days until wednesday. back track 6 days and you've got Friday. Using that analogy, what day is tomorrow and what day is yesterday?
