Cube Curious

A logician has two cubes on his desk with one number written on each face. Every day he arranges the cubes so that the front faces shows the todays date of the month. What numbers are on the faces of the cubes ?

I have actually seen these cube calendars, but I never paid attention to them. The numbers that need to be on the faces of the cubes are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 1, and 2

Carlos is correct, but he doesn't indicate which numbers are on which cube. One solution is as follows:

Cube 1: 0,1,2,4,5,6
Cube 2: 1,2,3,7,8,9

I think the anonymous person above is incorrect...both cubes need to have 0,1,2 on them, however the trick here is that the "6" doubles as an upside-down "9", so actually the cubes i beleive go as follow:

1- 0,1,2,3,4,5
2- 0,1,2,6(9),7,8

Both Gerri and Daniel have clever answers. Daniel's because of the "upside-down 6"; Gerri's because the first 10 days really don't need a 0 in front of them - you could simply hide one cube behind the other so only one digit is visible.

I think you are all making it harder than it is. The question said so the front shows today's date of the month. I am writing this on dec 10 so the numbers on the cube are 1 and 0

does this include the month in digit form as well - such as dec 10 = 12.10? If so, can someone please explain their answer? Thanks

its not that hard, its not meant to be a hard thinking question. its quite simple... heres the question. A logician has two cubes on his desk with one number written on each face. Every day he arranges the cubes so that the front faces shows the todays date of the month. What numbers are on the faces of the cubes ? now heres what you do.... you pick out key words... ie: todays date. the rest of the question is to make you believe its harder than what it is. if you need it broken down more all there really asking you is what the date is... so on the day you read it thats the day on the cubes. if you still dont get it then you might as well pack it up, forget about it and call yourself stupid!

ok thegreatone... i guess you don't get out much, because you are WAY OFF. They happen to sell these cube calendars. the question is not a gotcha question, it's actually a true question, "What numbers are on the faces of the cubes ?" As you see, 'FACES' is plural, meaning that the question is for each face... Maybe you should pack it up, stop putting moronic answers up, and call yourself stupid!

rofl you know it only sayed faces didnt tell how many to name just name atlest two faces so he could be right but then again he might be wrong but i think ill agree with him saying its the currant days date and today is the 12 and so its showing the 12

.... for instance - the second date in a month would have to be arranged: '0' in cube2 first (positioned to the left) and then '2' from cube1 to the right.

YOu can actually rearrange 3,4,5,6,7,8 and nine to your own choices - but there has to be
'0' - '1' and '2' digits on both cubes.

actually my thery is that it isnt our date it is actually his date in whichever time he is in so my answer is:

whatever the time is in his time that would be the time on the cubes...
of course i may be dead wrong lol its the way that they worded the question that i came up with that answer...

The puzzle is definatly to get 2 cubes that will dsplay all the numbers from 1 to 31.

Daniels solutions is correct.

I set my class of 12year olds this questin and they figured it out. The upsidedown 6 is the key.

the trick was each cube must have 0,1,2 so as to cover all the first digits of the month

Cube 1: 0,1,2,4,5,6
Cube 2: 1,2,3,7,8,9

cannot get the date 04 in the calendar (if you want to use both the cubes)

Anyone who said you need a zero on both cubes is an idiot months sart on the first, there is no need for there to be 00 date shown on the cube. The Answer is: 0123456 & 12789. This can make any date between 1 and 31 which are the only existing dates in all the months

uing two cubes
in third lastyou cannot make 03, 04, 05

in second last one you cannot do 06

and in the last one you cannot do 07 and 08

huh!
