Mad Mathematician

"Your check this evening comes to $ 43.89 sir! " the waiter said.
"Nonsense, I'm on a diet ...100,4180" said the mathematician

The mad mathematician was so astonished over the bill that he has lapsed into number talk at the end of his reply. Can you find out what he means ?

ok, i think i've started to get it, but i need a little help. If you write out the number then you get something like this:

One Hundred Thousand (i don't know if this is part of the sentence since there are 4 numbers after the comma or if the comma in the numbers means there is a comma in the sentence) Four One Eight Zero (or "Oh" since that's how some people pronounce that number). Anyways, i think this might be like "Mad Gab" where it all SOUNDS like something. Like the Eight might really be the word "ate". Four might be "for", etc... see if that helps. I may be TOTALLY wrong on this though! I was thinking that in "Hundred" the end might be really "read" or "dread". Good luck!

I think I got it!
100,4180 means "I Owe Zero, For I Ate Nothing." It makes sense in my head since he is allegedly in a diet. I might be completely off, but like I said, it makes sense in my head.

Ooh! Extension of last sentiment:

"For one ate not!"
