The Mystery of Alphabet

I recently visited Legoland, in California. One of my interesting memories of the trip turned out to be the long and winding road to get there. The road where I also came across this unique mystery. I saw solid, single letters of the alphabet, firmly fixed on the side of the road.

First I saw the letter "L" almost as big as the height of a christmas tree, "this could be fun for kids" I thought. Then came equally big, the letter "E", and then to my surprise the letter "C" (!) and the "O".

"ok ! its the mystery of a broken letter G, for LEGO" , I told myself.

But as I went on and waited for another L or an I, my eyes grew wider and wider with suspense and surprise. It was nothing like I expected. What did I see ?

"But as I went on and waited for another L or an I,..."

After copying this into Word and changing the font, the second letter is a capital i, not a lower case L.

Why would they be looking for a letter i? Makes no sense to me.

After looking at Google maps, there does appear to be 8 big letters on the road leading up to legoland, so i dont know why there would be a surprise on the second L. unless at that point you can see something in the park, like a hug rollercoaster?

I believe he was looking at it from the wrong direction, and it was "0)3J" the tail end of "F=e^-i(0)3j," which totally works, and is a helpful mathematical diving tip for anyone leaving Legoland.
Actually, I think it was French:
"Le coeur brûle,":"The heart burns."

It was a long and winding road. Presumably it twisted left and right as well as up hill and down valley.
I still think it was "closed".
The letters will have been hidden from view and not necessarily been sighted in their intended order....
until, that is, a peak was reached and all was revealed, much to the dismay of the visitor.

What a great moment that would be...upon reaching the hill on which Legoland sits and gazing out on its broad vistas, finally the intriguing and seemingly random series letters are presented to you in their proper arrangement:
"CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE - PLEASE PICK UP A VOUCHER FROM THE BOOTH ATTENDANT FOR ONE (1) FREE VISIT TO LEGOLAND ETHIOPIA."

I have 2 ideas. The first, is that maybe it was something backwards. and the second, is just because he saw the "L" first doesn't mean it's the first letter. Or it could be both.

We visted there a few years ago and as I recall the letters spelled WELCOME. The description implies the L came first, but he only said he saw the L first, then the E. Then again the comment 'a broken G, for LEGO' seems to suggest the order was LECO, so maybe it is something else...

If the road was twisting and turning, then maybe it was welcome, but he saw the letters in a diffrent order, other than that my guess is that maybe it is an acronym for something.(example:FBI=federal bureau of investigation) maybe leco is a short form of something. i dunno.

What the hell Raj?

It can't be welcome, it's in the wrong order and it doesn't explain the "suspense and surprise" and "nothing like I expected."

The ANSWER
----------------
W E L C O M E

GOT RIGHT
-----------------
Chris, Fardin, Dan Peake,

The road was twisting and turning and i mentioned First i saw L then E

"suspense and surprise" and "nothing like I expected."

was because i was expecting LEGO LAND

and I was surpised because of the mix up of the words, If you miss the first W.
