Help Me Cross the River

I have been traveling across the country with my wolf, a sheep, and sack of grain. We have traveled a long way and finally reach the river. The ferry is broke and current is too strong to wade across.

The ferryman tells me I may use the smaller raft, but it cannot hold much weight. Only two items may be on the raft at any time.

I must get across with my wolf, the sheep, and the sack of grain. The four of us cannot all be on the raft at once, so I must make the trip across in stages.

If I leave the sheep with the grain, it will eat the grain. If I leave the wolf with the sheep, it will eat the sheep.

How do I get all items and myself across the river without losing any of the items?

1st cross with the sheep. cross back and get the grain go drop the grain on the other side and take the sheep with you. switch the sheep with the wolf and then go back to get the sheep.

Or we could comment on how many comments you feel it is necessary to have here before someone gives the right answer without getting chastised for it.

The puzzles are here to be answered. If the answer is so obvious as to not cause any debate then move on to the next one and stop whining.

Or to drop it down by one trip, take the wolf first, then the grain, then the sheep.

first- cross with only the sheep.
next- go back & get the grain
third- take the sheep back and pick up the wolf
last- go back and pick up the sheep.
yay! now everyone is safe
(except the wolf probably ate you on the raft)

This is an old childs riddle for sure. Take the sheep, drop him off, go back, get the grain, drop it off, and take the sheep with you. Drop off sheep and take wolf. Leave wolf on other side with grain and go get sheep. Now all is safe on the other side.

First step: GET ON THE RAFT!
(everyone else forgot this step)
STEP 2:Pick up sheep (YAY)
STEP 3:paddle across river
4: PUT DOWN SHEEP
5: paddle back
6:pick up wolf (why would anyone have a pet wolf?)
7:put down on other side
8:pick up sheep
9:put down on other side
10:pick up grain
11:put down on othr side
12:go back & pick up sheep
13:go across, put down sheep & then get off the raft
14: let the raft float away so that the next person who trys this puzzle won't have a raft!

put the grain in the boat with you, tie the wolf 2 the side of it and make it swim. then go back for the sheep. and u could save some paddle time if the wolf is a strong swimmer

FIRST YOU TAKE ACROSS THE SHEEP THEN YOU TAKE ACROSS THE WOLF THE WOLF IS STARVING AND NEEDS A GOOD MEAL SO THEN IT EATS THE SHEEP. tHEN YOU COME ACROSS WITH GRAIN AND KILL THE WOLF. THEN YOU EAT WOLF AND GRAIN FOR LUNCH.

first I leave with the sheep then I'll come back lone leving the sheep on the other side, then me and the wolf get on the raft and go to the other side where the sheep is, I'll leave the wolf and take the sheep with me to where the grain is, then I'll leave the sheep and take the grain with me to the other side where the wolf is, I'll leave the grain & the wolf on the other side & come alone to get the sheep

you could also go...

sheep ->
wolf -> sheep <-
grain ->
sheep ->

as opposed to...

sheep ->
grain -> sheep <-
wolf ->
sheep ->

either way works
