What is the next number in this series: 1, -8, 190...
This is actually logical, not just a few random numbers.

That was wrong. Had a theory and went with it. It's wrong though. Sorry

This may not be the answer they are looking for but it works

1, -8, 190, 182, 190, 198

I don't see how that works first off, but it isn't my answer.

Here's my guess...

1, -8, 190, 181, 379, 370, 568...

Basically adding -9 and then adding 198 to every other number....

145522! The sequence rule would be

[x0] = 1; [xn] = (2[x(n-1)] + 2)² - 2[x(n-1)] - 22

It works, but i highly doubt it's what your looking for.

Thanks mo, but that is a bit involved.
The answer is 180,100. All I did was use the equation Y = 3X^2 - X - 10 and use the last term in the sequence as X.
I'm sure there are more ways to do it, as mo showed (if his really works, I didn't work it out to test it).
