100 floors

A man works in a 100 story high building.
His office is on the 100th floor & he always uses the lift to get to his office.
At the start of his working day, he always goes up 73 floors in the lift then has to climb the remaining floors to his office using the stairs.
However, when he has finished work for the day, he uses the lift to get down the entire 100 floors.

Why doesn't he use the lift to get to the 100th floor at the start of the day?

P.s The Lift is in perfect working order

Starbucks is on the 73rd floor and the triple expresso, double mocha, whipped double-shot latte gives him more than enough energy to reach the 100th floor via the stairs. In fact, if he didn't use the stairs he would be so jittery from his morning coffee addiction he wouldn't be able to sit still once he reached his desk!

It is because he is a midget or dwarf although if it was raining on the day he was going to work then he would be able to get to the 100th floor as he would have an umbrella to press the button for the 100th floor

Short in stature and short on brains, because he didn't think to bring a ruler which would have given him the extra length to press the "100" button a few rows up. (If he did bring something to extend his reach, then he should have brought one 6 inches longer and he would have been able to reach button 100.)

And to further prove his stupidity, he didn't realize that he could have pressed a button in the same row that would have gotten him to a higher floor. (There is no regular combination of buttons that yields button 73 as the highest number in a row.)

It's because there are two lifts. One goes up only, to the 73rd floor. The other one goes down only, from the 100th floor.
-or, maybe he starts the day full of energy, and likes to run up the remaining floors via the stairs for the exercise, and at the end of his day, he's tired and wants to ride all the way down.

On the elevator he gets to nausous from the ride so he gets off and walks the rest of the way. He's too tired at the end of the day to care.
