Well Commotion
One day, a rabbit struggled to get out a well. Every skip, he climbed 1 ft and fell 50
cm after. The whole skip (including the fall) happened in 3 sec. He then rested for 5 sec after the skip, then jumped again. The well was 20 ft deep. The question is, how long did it take for him to reach the top?

If he climbs 1ft and falls 50 cm he will never get out as he is falling further than he is climbing every "skip"

Teo's right.. 1ft = 30.48cm.
Theoretically, this puzzle cannot exist.. once he hits the bottom of the well, 1 jump up will take him 1 ft up then he is unable to fall 50cm because the bottom of the well is in the way.. :p
The well is 20 feet deep, he jumps 1 foot, then falls 50 centimeters.
1 inch is 25.4 millimeters, so 2.54 centimeters is also 1 inch. 1 foot is equal to 30.48 centimeters, so 20 feet is 609.6 centimeters.
Each skip/fall/rest sequence lasts 8 seconds. Also each skip/fall sequence gained 30.48 centimeters, but lost 50 centimeters--or a total lost of 19.52 centimeters.
At that negative rate it is easy to understand why it will take FOREVER for the rabbit to reach the top and get out of the hole.
~~ALTERNATE SOLUTION~~
It took all of 8 seconds for the rabbit to reach the top because after the first skip and subsequent fall he displaced enough sod to see his top, which fell into the hole and had dirt fall covering it up. That is why he was in the hole to begin with--He was trying to retrieve his top that had fallen into the well when he tried to beat the land speed spinning top championship record. Unfortunately he lost control of the top after he applied his famous sideways nuclear thruster spin and the top careened off the side of the barn, bounced off the tractor, flipped over the scarecrow's pithfork, and down into the well.

it'll reach china (assuming that this rabbit lives in the northern hemisphere) before it gets anywhere above ground...

how can he fall further than he jumped
3 seconds the first jump gets him out so the rest time doesn't factor and he falls more because he jumped into another hole poor thing
