Beheadments

In yon vast field of cultivated space,
I there am found with members of my race;
Decapitate me__if you've no objection_
You then will find what brings me to perfection;
Take one more cut, and then you'll plainly see,
What I am destined, day by day, to be

Run a program on that!

For some strange reason, and correct me if i'm wrong, but cows/steak are coming to mind

They are raised in fields with many others like them
slaughter them for meat if you arent vegetarian/vegan
the rest i cant really explain, but dammit i want steak now!!

lets pick this apart...

In yon vast field of cultivated space, = a farm, or ranch of some sort (cows, veggies...)

I there am found with members of my race; = this one is obvious so they are in a herd, or a patch of some sort (cows is seeming good, veggies maybe...)

Decapitate me__if you've no objection_ = if you don't mind, remove my head (killing the cow, cutting a part off some fruit or veggie in order to remove it etc. pineapple)

You then will find what brings me to perfection; = you will see what makes it good (cooking a steak, frying veggies, fermenting wine)

(after these, cows is seeming REAL nice)

Take one more cut, and then you'll plainly see, = another cut, and it will be obvious (steak looks good on the inside, veggies have there own look...)

What I am destined, day by day, to be = this one is obvious... (but I'm stumped for here)

Based on this.... cows was a good assumption, veggies OK... and thats all I can think to do to answer this...

I would say grass but you get weeds a lot of the time in big fields. But you can cut it all the time (decapitating it) and day by day if you keep it cut and looking nice, it is a beauty every day. Hmmm... it's a thought at least.

He mentions "Running a program on that" and why are there underscores instead of spaces in the third sentence? clues or not??
For some reason I think of twisted pair ethernet wire...
you gotta cut the head to reveal the twisted wires then slice the twisted lines to reveal the copper to put the head on.
This is totally not the answer...but it's a different direction.

could it be trees --> something made from trees like paper or something?

doesnt quite explain 'perfection' though...

Since none of you have gotten it, the answer is wheat; transformed to heat by a 'beheadment' meaning a chop off of the first letter; transformed to eat.

this was a nice one! Works with meadow grass, too, in a strange way (if you cut the top off you have foot and mouth). Of course, I am being influenced by my name.
