The Hill

There's a street where the incline is so high, that I sometimes have to shift all the way down to 1st gear to make it to the top. Especially if I have to stop a the light at the bottom of the hill.
Coming down the hill causes my vehicle to gain too much speed.

Again I shifted all the way down to first gear, but this time it didn't help at all. I had to constantly apply the break to keep from gaining too much speed and be able to stop at the light at the bottom of the hill.

Why did shifting to first gear not help reduce the speed when going down the hill?

Vehicles are non-living means of transport. They are most often man-made (e.g. bicycles, cars, motorcycles, trains, ships, boats, and aircraft).

Specifically, a bicycle is classified as a Human Powered Vehicle, or HPV.

It's a bike which by the way is a vehicle. Just because we don't commonly refer to it as one does not change the definition. Much like the internet is a vehicle that gets us to certain information. A vehicle by definition is just a means of getting somewhere whether it be physically, mentally, visually....
