The illusionist

A crowd of 120 people went to see the show of an illusionist. The men in the crowd paid $5, the women a discounted price of $2. And there were childrens in the crowd who paid much less. The total money collected was $ 120.

How many of each, witnessed the illusionist ?

Children ticket @ 50 cents each

10men = $50
10women = $20
100 Children = $50

But that would average 10 kids per adult couples.....unless these kids are alone? Where are there parents? Why would the kids be aloud to go on there own? Some very bad parenting!!!

children @ 3

10 men @ 5 $50
20 women @ 2 $40
10 children @3 $30
---------------------
40 Total $120

The question is:

"A crowd of 120 people went to see the show of an illusionist. The men in the crowd paid $5, the women a discounted price of $2. And there were childrens in the crowd who paid much less. The total money collected was $ 120."

all of each who showed up. With a third variable, you cannot say with certainty what the children paid.

Or the Illusionist was his own greatest trick and no one saw him at all

Trick question. It can have many answers. Since the childrens price only has to be less than $2, it can be anything. so as long as theres less adults summing up to $120, there can be any amount of children paying whatever... for example: 20 men = $100; 9 women = $18, and the children can just pay a penny or whatever to complete the remaining $2.

That is true, if a money system is more than paper. We will find out soon that it is not. If there is no "gold" "salt" "teeth" "jasper" backing the paper, then the Illusionist is the Treasury Dept head, or perhaps the President and no one saw him, no matter what they paid.
