Janet and Joan

Janet and Joan were found dead in a room which had an open window (it wasnt broken, just open). And, there were glass splinters in a puddle of water on the floor. How did they die?

Janet and Joan were goldfish. They died when their aquarium broke.

They were minding their own business and forgot to close the window, and when they turned their backs, a glass bottle flew in and hit their heads.

they were shot while drinking a glass of water, the window was open because it was hot, hence the water drinking

they randomly had the window open to vent their dead bodies because they were committing suicide by ODing. They had a glass of water in their hands to wash all the poison down. And when they died, their glasses fell and broke on the ground? Ok, so the first answer still sounds best.

They forgot to mention that there is a baseball on the floor (which flew threw the window and hit the goldfish bowl/aquarium)

Janet and Joan were goldfish. They died when their aquarium broke when a huge gust of wind blew their aquarium over. :)
