as above the first car will reach the end of the tunnel in one minute the last car would take two minutes because it has twice as far to travel.

One minute. This problem never says pass through it just says "pass". Therefore it will only take one minute for the train to pass the tunnel

Off the top of my head, i'd say 2 minutes.. 60mph is 1 mpm. It takes the engine 1 minute to go from one end of the tunnel to the other and 1 more minute for the caboose to reach the end of the tunnel.

It will definitely take 2minutes... 1 minute for the last cabin to enter the tunnel and another 1 minute for it to exit the tunnel!

I think it takes 0 Seconds for the train to pass as the train is a mile long and the tunnel is a mile long also :-)

there is another option. it never said it was passing through the tunnel. only that it had to pass it. it could be perpendicular to the train -|
in which case it would only take the train a minute and some odd seconds to pass the tunnel completely. or if only the engine needed to pass, a fraction of a second.
