All of them. When you get on, the one behind you will be next to you but in the opposite direction. Then you pass the rest on the way up, and when you get off you pass the one in front of you, because it has just turned around to face the other direction.
well all of themm.. excpet if you count those in the curves.. cus your not really passing them...you are at an angle to them.... x x x x ... x x x Z x x x x...
so if you are getting on a Z, then the 3 behind you, you arent actually passing! :P
Doesn't matter because looking back at all of the riddles Rajesh Lal has posted I don't see him giving any answers. Why post questions if you're not going to post answers?????
I thought it was supposed to one week then the answers.
The first one is right, because it didn't say if it was a giant chair lift like Val assumed. It could be a very small chairlift. And you would pass every one exept the one you are sitting in.
I would say none because in order to pass them you would have to be moving faster than the one in front of you and since they are all moving at the same speed you dont pass any.
in the south, we call ski lifts boats. and you have to hang on or else they pass right out fron under you so the southern answer is one or 100%. now if you refer to the snowy part of th country, say denver, i hear tell there are swings that grab you from behind and take you up a big hill where you hop off or something to that effect. Let's make this simple say there are four swings evenly spaced and the travel in an oval direction. your in swing 1 starting at the straightaway.(Assume the lenghth of curve = length of straight)and you get off at the end of the same straightaway, then you would have passed (in order) #4 (the one behind you nearing the curved end from which you started. then as you arive at the halfway part of your trip, you pass #3. #2 is now at the apex of the curve on the destinations end. you pass it when you are entering the curve. this is where you get off. it does matter how many swings there are as to how many in percentage form you pass. the one you exit will pass you (making all of them pass)unless you start your skiing at a faster pace. anyway, i'll use the boat to ski.
You are right about the swings in Denver, cadman. I live there and all you do is stand there and they scoop you up, carry you to the top and then you hop off.

Val got it right in my opinion.

You never know. What if you jump off halfway up?
i was just about to say what matt said!
if you get off at 1/4 or 1/2 or something like that, you wouldnt pass all of the chairs
