This has been fun. Whoever signed me up, email me! I answered some to the North, some to the West, some to the barque and some to the Halcyon. And with that, I bid Sopdu!
Every year, on the "miraculous" morning of December 25th, a specific and easily perceptable event occurs;
The three stars (commonly known as "The Three Kings") that comprise Orion's belt in the constellation Orion line up exactly with the eastern Star (Cirrus) and project a line directly to the place on our Earth's horizon where which the sun first breaks for sunrise.
And so it is told; Three Kings follow the star in the East to witness the "birth" of God's only "son" (sun). This is why so many diverse religions all seem to share Dec 25 as the divine day of their deity's birth into the world of man.
Research these facts. Understand them. Realize that the entire body of the christian faith is simply a fairy tale created by a lost, lonely, unintelligent species based on a meaningless configuration of heavenly events, so that they may find some way to cope with the fact they are doomed to a torturous exsistance in a world that offers no answer to the questions they all so desparately need.
We all possess the ability to learn truth, yet so many of us settle for faith in what someone else claims as truth.

Firstly you should get your facts straight, first, Cody: The three stars of Orion's belt ROUGHLY point towards Sirius (not spelled like a cloud formation) but are NOT in a perfect line, as is detectable by the naked eye. This happens YEAR-ROUND. Furthermore, exactly where on the horizon this "line" points to depends on the time of year, and although it points more easterly during the winter-spring seasons, the exact date of its most easterly alignment changes from year to year.
The reason so many faiths observe dates around this time is not because of the stars but the winter solstice. In fact the birth of the historical man Jesus did not occur on this date, but the observance of the birth was moved to this date to try to Christianize people already observing the solstice (Yule, Saturnalia, etc).
Most importantly I think you should understand the inappropriateness of your comments. If you want to make a logical point, we here are mostly of the type that will listen. But to blast an entire faith so rudely and without any supporting claims is uncivil. Perhaps that kind of talk is more welcome on hate-group sites you might visit--but this is a site for logic puzzles and the like.
I share what I expect are many of your disappointments / disillusions with organized religion and Christianity. But to call all Christians unintelligent or that they chose to not accept truth is completely unfair. Perhaps many are what you claim but there are certainly those who are different. Also there is a lot more to their faith than "a bright star in the east". I think you insulted a lot of people of faith by claiming that their religion was entirely based on that. I am sure you will find a lot of people willing to have a meaningful debate with you on religion, but you really should learn a lot more about what you hate FIRST, so you don't sound so unintelligent yourself.

Everyone......I am truly sorry for my audacity and lack of respect for a brother's faith. Though my belief system does not find us as Brothers in God, I do love and respect the fact that we are brothers living on the same earth.
We utilize and enjoy this site because we feel the thrill of realization when an answer finally finds it's way into our minds. Some play sports, others hunt; we think, and we are mostly good at it; most of the time.
I need not mention the incessant perserverence of the "never-sullen" ego that vies for his place in the front seat of the bus. I try to make a conscious effort at keeping this rude, arrogant, and not really all that smart guy out of my personal meanerings with others. I like to think that I am doing well, and am steadily getting better. Please don't think of me as "that jerk."
Fact is, I am currently residing in the proverbial "slump," and i am none too pleased about it. I am a certified climbing arborist that has recently suffered a fall of 40+ft.
Neck, back, wrist and 2 ribs.........BROKEN. This, along with a punctured lung and a lingering.............let's say, uneasiness....about throwing the gaffs on again, has left me none too jovial or ambitious about anything as of late.(Dare I mention the crippled.......uh.....ego?)
No boo hoos, just an attempt to shed some light on why I am so angry at the world.
Man, I just did 7 years in the joint. I don't mean the podunk county clink, either. I finally put all owed for a drunken moment of auto thievery behind me, get off the drugs and booze, marry a woman WAY to good and hot for me, move into a nice place, and.....BLAMMO!!!......Just like a drunken monkey.
I use my lack of the general concensus' idea of spirituality as a weapon in my argumentative arsonal, and of course, this is not always the appropriate course of action.
Actually......screw "appropriate:" I am not concerned with my appropriatness. Our President is not, so nor shall I be. Respect, on the other hand, I am concerned with; very much so. My bullshit on todays puzzle was d-i-s-r-e-s-p-e-c-t-f-u-l.This makes me an a-s-s-h-o-l-e, and I am truly s-o-r-r-y.

I beleive Jesus was actually born sometime in april but it was to close to easter so they moved it
