The sentence uses nine distinct letters.
The sentence should be:
This sentence has nine letters.
1. The sentence has 2 letters.
2. The sentence has exactly forty English letters.
3. The sentence has black letters.
And yet by inserting the word "nine" into the sentence you inadvertently add the letter 'i' which in fact increases the amount of letters to 10.
