Where 2

After bidding goodbye to his daughter and granddaughter, and Englishman sets out from his small village on a long journey. Three years later he returns, only to find that his village is empty and has been abandoned for some time. Despite some clue and numerous searches, the fate of the village inhabitants is never discovered.

Where is the village and what is it called?

~As always i have clues if needed, good luck

Does the name and place of the village have anything to do with 'his daughter and granddaughter'?

Eg.'his daughter' translating to 'Histotle'?

You wrote 'Englishman', so an assumption is its somewhere in England?

Hint, please.

its very easy!

http://www.northyorkmoors-stay.co.uk/tourist/Ingleby-Arncliffe.html

Ingleby Arncliffe’s name is made of four elements; ‘Ingle’ means ‘English’, ‘by’ is a Danish word for ‘village’, ‘Arn’ is an ‘eagle’ and ‘Cliffe’ is a ‘hill’. So the literal meaning is ‘Englishman's village near the Eagles Hill’. It is thought that the village was identified as belonging to an Englishman, as Viking settlements were so numerous in the region that the presence of Anglo-Saxons was seen as unusual.

Okay so as some of you pointed out, there are two spelling/grammar errors. they are not meant to be a clue. it is just what happens when i try and type these out too fast.

The first hint is
~The man was English but he didn't live in England

Good luck guys
