Who 4

Deep in the woods, a portly and unassuming fellow ambles along humming to himself. He finds a large hole in the ground, which he figures must house some animal, maybe a rabbit, He squirms into the hole, but on the way back out manages to get quite stuck because of his formidable girth. Fially, a little boy comes along and rescues him by pulling him out.

Who is this individual and where does he live?
