Many might say volcano/ lava or even fire, but these things are not 'many a battle been fought'. Instead it's Atomic Bomb. Comments might be brought toward 'slow, deadly stampede', but the A-Bomb doesn't only have the immediate kill impact. It has the radiation zone, a slow, deadly stampede.

Then answer is water. You might not understand but it can be very hot sometimes especially when its sunny. FLOODS!
it actually could be glaciers with a really hot girl trapped in it so there goes line on though cause they can easily take out a town as well as leave nothing behind or sometimes leave alot its just that in the riddle nothing was said about never or al ways so the possibility is stll there as well they move extremely slowly and you can fight on them ( i beat up my brother once on one)
