The Magic Trick !
I was in Disneyland last weekend, and came across this Magician.
"I had on the stage," the magician's story went, "a small iron box with a handle on top. I invite a strong man to step forth. In response an Arab of medium height but sturdily built, a sort of local Hercules, came up. He walked up cheer-fully, grinning slyly the while, and stopped opposite me.
"Are you strong? " I asked, looking at him from tip to toe.
"Yes," said he.
"Are you sure you will always be strong?"
"Certainly," came the answer.
"You are Wrong" I said "In the twinkling of an eye I can rob you of your strength and you will grow as weak as a child"
"The Arab gave a disbelieving grin"
"Come here," I said, "and lift up this box."
The Arab bent over, lifted it up and then inquired: "Is that all?"
"You just wait a moment" said I. "Assuming a serious mein, I made a commanding gesture and solemnly uttered:
"You are now weaker than a woman. Lift that once again"
This time the Arab failed to pick it up, no matter how hard he tried. What happened ?

perhaps, infront of hundreds of people, after being told he was weak, didn't want to fail the magician? like that hypnotics guy who did things to the celebrities
1st response is correct...electro-magnet under table, which magician switched on.
I agree, a magnet is the answer. I guess it was a good thing Chuck Norris wasn't in the crowd!!
Chuck Norris is visual proof of De evolution...
maybe he was holding the box for soo long whie the commannd was going on he lost all his energy from holding the box. When he tried again after being soo tired from the first lift he could not do it again.

an electromagnet using DC current. If it was AC current, he may have been able to force it apart anyway.
It was already lifted so he couldn't lift it any higher.
I doubt there was a magnet. I would bet there was a "catch", like a few small pins or hooks that were activated when the box was set down in a certain way or activated by a remote control.
i think it could be to do with regression and suggestion

playing of the known stereotype that arab men usually are raised with a sexist mentality women are inferior to men, by saying you are now 'weaker than a women', to support his beliefs that women are weak, the strong man would have to conciously not pick it up

it's all in the mind...if you are in an airplane and people are all getting sick...then you think you are going to get sick, subconciously, so if the magician says that you are weak, 90% of the time you are going to think that you are weak, same thing as the light as a feather game where you get a group of people together and everyone puts one finger in and you say light as a feather and you can lift the person with one finger each person....old trick
I dissagree with KayN because that just wouldent hapen i mean that if someone told me that I was weak then I would be able to lift just as much witch makes me think... I am starting to realize that nobody has told me im weak. Just a sec ill be right back. I came back and just found out that its true witch means that I think that it was both the subconcious thingamabob and the electrromagnet together
