Black Friday
Shopaholic Sofie, who was born in a leap year, was very superstitious about her shopping and always insisted on odd number of items. While shopping for her boyfriend, she saw a deal of Waistcoat and Trousers for $30, A deal of Jacket and Trousers at $40 and a Waistcoat and Jacket bundle for $ 32.
How much she will pay for the three piece suit ?

Im not sure what is wanted but i think u want the prices for each differently and then added up...so the prices of each can be calculated by algebra easily:
let w= price of waistcoat j=price of jacket, t= price of trousers
then, Given: t+j=40--------1
w+t=30--------------2
w+j=32--------------3
And according to how i interpret this question T find: w+t+j
By solving 2 and 3 we get
j-t=2---------------4
Now solving 4 and 1,
2j=42 =>j=21
Substituting j=21 in 1
we get t+21=40 =>t=40-21=19
Substituting t=19 in 2
we get w+19=30 =>w=30-19=11
So w+t+j=11+19+21=51
Which is an odd number so she can buy it!
Add all three..
u will get 2 of each.
2w+2t+2j=102
so divide by 2.
w+t+j=51
there is the answer.
:-)
no need to calculate separate values.
Normally if something is in a deal you cannot split it so she would have to purchase a couple of deals to get her 3 piece suit.
The cheapest way of doing that would be buying Waistcoat and Trousers for $30 and Waistcoat and Jacket for $32. She would end up with a spare waistcoat which she might be able to return or sell on eBay.
So the cheapest price for a 3 piece suit is $62
Is the "odd number" part of the problem supposed to indicate that the final total should be an odd number or that you can only purchase an odd number of clothing packages?
I have it that if she buys one of each package, she will have 2 three piece suits for $102, so the value of 1 three piece suit is $51.
trick question.. she doesnt buy the suit because any combination of buying will leave her with an even number of items.
$62+tax
Whats the tax RATE?!?
witch one will she buy!?!
witch one will she buy and whats the tak rating
oops i mean tax not tak :P
Well I think it's a pointless question because...
A.you don't know what she bought
B.you don't know what the price is
C.you don't know what the price rate is
For C. I meant the tax rate not the price rate
simple. All you need to do is add 32+30+62. That shows the price that she paid.
