Two Cops
Two cops accidentally, drive through a barricade, and off the 6th level of a parking garage. One is an average sized guy, the other is a exchange cop from Japan. He is a part-time Summo wrestler and weighs 350 pounds. Their standard police car plunges 6 floors to the sidewalk.
Would either of the policemen survive the accident?
Give an approximate percentage chance of survival for each cop, plus a percentage of the pan handler on the sidewalk who was hit by the police car.

hmmm... I dont really understand this.
I think the chances of the normal cop dieing are more than the sumo-japan-cop.
but if this is America and they have cusion bags which open automatically im sure they will not die but if its a place like india where no road safety steps are take all of them would have died.
But 95% the guy on the sidewalk would have died.
Just posting my thoughts.
The site is in America. (Califorina I think) You can assume that a police car will have air bags and they MUST wear seat belts at all times (as cops). If the belts did not fit the Summo wrestler, he would not be allowed to go on a patrol.

as for the guy on the sidewalk... depends how fast he is :P
I say its 0% for all. the average sized and the sumo cop because it really doesnt matter how big you are, your falling from 6 stories, your going to die. As for the panhandler, if he's in the way of either cars, than he'll die...
Hint: What is the height of 6 floors? At what speed would the car hit the sidewalk? Remember, damage is caused by deceleration and mass.

by the way, what sort of percentages were you talking about? you can't calculate them without the speed, height, omg.

This parking garage is in the lower floors of a skyscraper. They were at ground level in the parking garage exit which happened to be the sixth floor up from the basement below the garage. They had just past through the barricade after the Americop flashed his badge. Tired of the panhandling scum littering his perfect view of the world, Americop ran him down. The panhandler had a 0% survival rate since Americop ran over his head--twice. Americop got out and checked on the condition of the panhandling scum. After he made certain the puke was dead, he returned to the passenger side of the unmarked police crusier.
Disturbed with Americop's total disregard for human life, SumoCop made it known to Americop his intention to report Americop to his Captain. Americop knew the only way out was to leave no witnesses, Americop pulled his back-up/throw-away revolver and blasted SumoCop in the right temple. He then wiped the revolver clean and placed it in the hand of the dead panhandling scumbag, who was sprawled on the concrete near-by. SumoCop ended with a 0% rate of survival.
Americop returned to the precinct and explained how a lowlife, scumbag panhandler gunned down his temporary partner, and how his only recourse was to take care of the dirtbag with the convenience of the closest weapon at hand chance--his cruiser. he was placed on desk duty for a little while, but was soon back on patrol when he was cleared in the case.
Americop was awarded the Japanese police medal for Meritorious Valor upon his return to duty. Enamoured with Americop's acts of courage and heroism, Empress Michiko offered the hand of Crown Princess Masako to Americop, as well as a lifetime supply of Kobi beef.
The rate of survival for Americop is 100% since he refused to take any @$#*? off of lowlifes or pansy-@#$ liberals.

Since the car fell almost down (hits the sidewalk), the forward velocity must have been really slow, probably stopped, then tilted straight down, and fell almost vertically. Six floors is about 60 feet, giving a final velocity of 42 miles per hour on impact.

eveybody in this story dies becuase just as the cruser and its contents are plunging 84'ft to their eminent death a meteorite strikes the planet and extonguishes the entire human race. Americop, sumocop, homeless person and all.
That being said, I am pretty sure they were driving a tank that was filled with those foam packaging pellets. Therefore, when they fell off the garage, they had cushioning all around. Therefore, the american cop had a 99% chance of living, but the overweight japanese cop only had a 75% chance of living since he was at much higher risk of heart attack. If you aren't satisfied with this answer, then consider your question more carefully before posing the next one.
Hmmm... this is a tricky one! If the scene had to happen in america wouldnt the police men survive as the car should have airbags to support them. if the sumo wrestler was so fat his fat should help him sustain injuries. the only person who would die would be a person walking on the sidewalk as the impact of the car with the heavy man is dangerous.the sumo wrestler could even have a stroke or heartattack.
the sumo guy would have more momentum so more likly he would die then american cop
americop 70% to die he has airbags but a nose dive ruins that

The car tilts slowly over the edge and goes front end down to the sidewalk, 60 feet below. It reaches the sidewalk at 42 miles per hour. The car hits pan handler and he is crushed almost instantly. Probability of survival is zero.
The cars front end is smashed almost all the way to the firewall. This distance is 5 feet, so the deleceration from 42 mph to zero takes five feet, so the probablity of survival depends on the G forces. For this inital velocity and distance is 12G's. 12 G's is deadly, but let's add about 2 more feet for the airbags. This makes the G forces 8.
This is survival (maybe). The mass interacting with the air bags is an important variable. The survival American cop at 8G is about 70%, but since the Summo is about twice as heavy, his percentage is only 35%.

I still think it makes no sense at all.
If someone falls inside a car from the sixth floor, of course it won't survive. The impact will be such, and the airbags will just open when they reach the sidewalk. So, it will be like when we fall in Hollywood Tower Hotel elevator in MGM, when we get out of our sits; the cops will hit their head in the top of the car before crashing, so they will probably be half dead by then.
The gay on the sidewalk has 100% of dieing because tons are falling on top of him (RIP).
And, if the cops don't die with the impact from falling from such hight (which is really difficult, as the Mithbusters proved once when doing a similar thing but with an airplane and the hight was smaller), they should die for stupidity.

Probability of the large man surviving are less, since the weight of his back would probably crush his lungs.
The unfortunate guy on the ground would be dead, assume he was hit somewhere important (like his head). His survivability is less than the guys in the car because the guy on the ground has a 2000lb car crashing on his head.
Of course, Murphy's Law says the car would actually land up side down, and in that case both men would die instantly as their upper bodies are compressed into a 14 inch space and their necks are snapped. This is actually a more likely scenario, since there will be some rotation due to the front wheels starting down first.
The good news is.....There might be some good donuts left when I get to the shop in the morning and I would actually have change to buy them after not feeling obligated to give the bum some!
0% the driver was Asian they can't drive so immediatley they died
