How about the words "the same"? Spelt differently, but pronounced "the same". Very Bilbo.

Surely lite is advertising speak and not a real word!

How about:
mayor - mare
wail - whale
navel - naval
hurts - hertz

I did have a cat once and called him Claude :)

Saw and sore?? I don't think so! Who taught you to speak? Try SOAR and SORE.
Paw and pore?? NOPE!! Try PORE and POUR.
Tore and tour?? Not Quite! Try TARE and TEAR.
Poor and Pour?? Again, NOPE!
Come on people and think about it before you guess at it.

And here is one I have yet to see mentioned.

simply search for a list of homonyms or specifically homophones

the [site] of seeing many incorrect ones gives me a good point to [cite] TJsShihTzu. good work on spotting the incorrect ones

??? tore and tour work and so does poor and pour

To TJsShihTzu

Before making comments on peoples mistakes, ensure you are CORRECT not MISTAKEN

'Saw and sore?? I don't think so! Who taught you to speak? Try SOAR and SORE.
Paw and pore?? NOPE!! Try PORE and POUR.
Tore and tour?? Not Quite! Try TARE and TEAR.
Poor and Pour?? Again, NOPE!'

saw - an object for cutting wood apart - and sore - aching
paw - an animals foot - and pore - gap in the skin which can allow moisture through
tore - has torn - and tour - be shown around (tare and tear - to tear and tear as in crying???)
poor - lack of money - and pour - to pour a liquid

I'm english and from where i come these are pronounced the same way so an apology is needed i feel

And new ones

Tear and tier (crying and layered as in cakes)
read and reed (to look at and understand writting and the plant)
read and red (past tense of read and colour)
