Baker's dozen is 13. Which originally is believed to be from bakers giving 13 loaves of bread instead of 12 due to possible fines from weight shortage or the 13th loaf representing the cut of profit.

ok, just so you all know, adidas is not an acronym. It is based on the founder of adidas' name. His name is Adolph Dassler. His nickname was Adi, so they combined his nickname with the first three letters of his last name. adi-das.

Goodbye comes from shoping, as in I found a good buy.

James Bond is assiciated with 007 because Ian Flemming's 006 did not cut the mustard, his next trial character got lucky with a seven.

Yahoo comes from the pre-intenet game Wahoo.

Adidas comes from some middle eastern saying - not English so I could tell you, sorry.

A bakers dozen, comes from a an English king who got 11 items when he was supposed to get a dozen. The baker was jailed, and other bakers decided to give one extra just to make sure they did not get jailed.

The Navaho nation is surrounded on all sides by the USA. Maybe some foreign country might be also, but who care about them?

I don't think Left Handed arm wrestling is allowed 'round here,
even if you're left handed.

Goodbye:

This is an old word originating from the English game of cricket.

A Bye is a run scored by the batting team when the ball has not been hit, and this usually because the wicket keeper has failed to catch the ball as it comes past him.

Normally the batsmen would have to run to score on a Bye, but should the ball travel to the boundary then this is an automatic score of four without them having to run.

This is where the term "Good Bye" comes from as the batsmen would stand and shout "Good Bye!" to the poor wicket keeper who would have to run after the ball.

The arm movement associated with the phase Goodbye was a mimic the signal given by the Umpire to indicate a Bye which is done by raising his arm into a vertical position with the palm of his hand open to differentiate between this and the signal for out.

Hope that helps

Windy
