out of the box, ha! if i'm seeing this right, they're the same. it's the contrast in thrir surroundings that make them look different
the boxes have the same color. I cut half one and pasted it over the other.
They appear different because the eye is seeing it with the back ground which makes the illusion.
They are the same, I formatted it on Paint.
its not. they just look different because of the difference in how our eyes adjust to contrast of the surrounding.
omg ! nowadays you cannot even believe your eyes
nonsense! The left box is "darker than it's surrounding" and the right box is lighter than it's surrounding. "Darkerness" can only be evaluated in a context.

Darkerness? Wonder why the spell-checker doesn't like that...
it's cut outs, pasted oppositely? (if oppositely's a word)
and they are not the same shade the left square is darkest...as is the side it's from.

when I first looked at them I thought "They're the same.." ..but since it should be "out of the box" then my answer is : They're not boxes ! They're squares .. xD
it is the left one
i printscreened it and over laped them and the left one is darker.
formatt and overlap all u like..the left one is still darker and true...its a square not a box :P
same darkness, optical illusion, relative darkness...(spoilsport)
Both sqaures are the same, but they are not in a single shade, they are gradients.
The right sides of the squares are darger than the left sides.
They are both the same darkness....it is just the shadowing effect that makes it appear different.
You have to look at it as if you was looking at grey-scale!
theyre the same
dipstick!
just kidding
the left one is darker
i checked with paint
left one is darker
whoever tried to make the illusion where theyre the same
they didnt know how
The outside box
