Rubber Band was the first thing I thought of too, but no one else mentioned the Band Aid.

But I like the Jonas Brothers answer also.

Rubber bands and Hair bands both act to hold some thing into place. There action is the purpose of the user.

In mathematics, a band (also called idempotent semigroup) is a semigroup in which every element is idempotent (in other words equal to its own square).

In solids, the valence band is the highest range of electron energies where electrons are normally present at absolute zero.

Spectral bands are part of optical spectra of polyatomic systems, including condensed materials, large molecules etc.

A band is a small section of the spectrum of radio communication frequencies, in which channels are usually used or set aside for the same purpose.

So Yes, there are a few answers...

well, a rubber band is wrong because if you strech it it does make a sound so i agree with who said a hairband. Whoever said that is smart!*
