u could subtract 72 to get 729
because 81*9=729 which is the same as 9 cubed

108 = 6 x 18

write the equation 81*9=801 then rotate the paper it will
108=6*18
Change the first 1 to a 9 so that 81*9 becomes 89*9 which is 801.

Perhaps I'm seeing this incorrectly, but to change:
81 x 9 = 801 into 108 = 6 x 18
you have to flip it vertically and then horizontally, which would be "2 things" rather than the "one thing" as initially called for.
If that were an answer, then
81 + 9 * 9 - 9 (adding 2-9s) would be a viable answer as well
((81 + 9) * 9) - 9 = 801
Turning it upside down, could mean you turn the face side down. That would be "flipping it" like a coin.
But, Michelle meant, (I am pretty sure) you would rotate 180 degrees.
Then the top becomes the bottom and the left becomes the right.

may i just say in my first post which was the first post that my answer is right because 81*9 does equal 729
and he said one "thing"

81x9=801 u make anoter operation u make 89x9=801 u change the equation itself but if u rotate the paper 180 degree - as I said and Ragknot said too - u don't change the formula u only change your point of view

I think you are going off track from the original statement asked.
"What is one thing you would do to make this QUESTION right?".
As ragknot noted earlier "81 X 9 = 801" is an equation as it stands and not a question.
So the correct one thing to do to make this question right is add a "?", resulting in...
81 X 9 = 801 ?
Which has an answer of "No, 81 X 9 = 729"

the answer 81x9=801 by rotate it 180 degree
so the equation will be
108=6x18
and so we didn't change the eqution ,but we change our direction to the equation
I'd put a slash through the equal sign to say the sides are not equal.

i thought you could add 72:
81*9+72=801, But i like windy's answer! it did say QUESTION.
Obviously there are at least four different things to fix it up. The poster didn't imply that there was only one solution.
