Even upside down?
What word, when written in capital letters, is the same forwards, backwards and upsidedown?
So long since anyone made a post, I thought I would add this one.

How about NOON
N is not the same upside down.
The only letters that are symmetrical in all ways are, "H", "O", "I", and "X".
But what word, other than "I", could be made out of those letters to create both a forward and backward same effect? This is why you thought, "NOON" was viable, but alas... they mentioned "upside down". So...
My final answer is: "I".
Unless an owl says, "HOOH", then I'll go with that. ;)

Heidi, you forgot the S... :)
I'm not a born english speaker, but can SIS be considered a word?

Mystic Word
posted by Rajesh Lal
His answer was SWIMS
But I saw a few that might also work such as SIS. True, the S is slightly different upside down, but it's closet enogh for me.
Thanks for all the responses.
XOX, IXXI, OHO, HOH, OIO, HOHOH, HIHIHIH
They're all on Google.
SWIMS is out of order.
SWIMS only works upside down AND reversed.

Well spotted Anonymous 5:52 PM
Ragknot, SWIMS doesn't work upside down or reversed. It's about as close as "closet enogh" is to "close enough". LOL.
Chris,
True, I wondered would catch that spelled backward SWIMS does not work, it only works if it is upside down, and when it's upside down, it's backwards in a sense.
So I only gave Rajesh Lal's post and answer exactly. I was getting bored with nothing new.
There's been a lot of thought provoking ToMs. When there's nothing new, we ought to revive a golden olde for newbes.
Hi Ragknot. I seem to have been reviving Golden Oldies by accident. I knew that the "Beady Eyed" had been posted as "Einstein's Sphere" though. On my first verson, I'd disguised it and expressed it so straightforwardly, that nobody seemed to notice that it was an interesting problem. Still not sure if they did on second try. Greetz.
... WoO was very, very close to noticing though.
I've seen the 3000 bananas on several web sites. One I saw today was on "The answer Bag". There were several well documented solutions.
I found it at:
http://mathforum.org/dr.math/faq/faq.camel.html
I've just Googled it. Looks like 533.333... is right.
I just thought, using up 1000 bananas per stage was a good idea as it knocked 2 off the number of legs required each time.
