I've reviewed this about five times. I can never comphrend what this ToM is about. I see repeating 22's and a 41 and a 14, and a pair of 8's. These could be switching the first and last digit.

But I think Chris is right. 42.

8 + 1 + 4 + x = 100,
x = 87.

Is mo's answer the correct one?

I don't follow the logic. Where does 100 come from, and why those numbers ?

Explanation would be greatly appreciated

Hi Anonymous. The official answer hasn't been posted. We are sure that mo's answer is correct. As you move down the original list, the numbers in each of the four assumed series rotate clockwise by one position. Summing the corrsponding terms =>
14+50+8+28 = 19+41+30+10 = 22+22+22+34 = 100. So it seems likely that we mush have 8+1+4+x = 100 => x= 87.

Thanks for the explanation. It looks right, but unless I'm missing something, the original sentence in the problem statement is misleading "Consider these as sequence of 4 groups" i.e. the 2nd set set does not follow from the first, and the 3rd does not follow from the second..... and the fifth set is non-calculable
