Bright idea
In your basement you have three light switches. They are in the off position. The lights can't be seen from the basement. Using only one visit to the lights, how can you determine which switch controls which light?

Turn one switch on for (say) 60 seconds and another one for (say) 5 seconds.
Go into the room: one light bulb will be hot, another warm and the third cold.
call lightswitches A,B,C
-leave lightswitch A off
-Turn B and C on for an extended period of time (10 minutes)
-Turn B off then quickly visit lights
-the light which is on is C
-The light which is warm but off is B
-The light which is cool but off is A
Cam
I could do it with NO visits to the basement.
Wiz and Cam both have good solutions.
Now what has Ragknot kept from us?
I bet Ragknot is going to use my approach. Visit the breaker panel box where I clearly labeled each breaker and the switch it controls.
My guess is that he'll use mirrors, or other people to call out.
Wild guess is that he hasn't got a basement.
Ok I give my secret.
I'd ask my wife. She knows it all.
She would probably say, the first switch goes to the light nearest the door way, probably on the stairs. The second and third also are in order.
If she didn't know she would find out very quickly and tell me.
LET US TAKE 3 SWITCHS AS 1,2,3
I WIL LEAVE 1st ONE IN ON AND 2nd IN OFF.
NOW LETS KEEP 3rd ON FOR A WHILE AND OFF IT,
NOW SEE WHICH BULB IS WARM IN BULB 2,3
THE COLD ONE IS 2nd BULB WARM IS 3rd BULB
No need to SHOUT Bobby, we're not deaf.
