Timely Deliveries

A delivery driver is suppose to arrive at his destination at exactly 11:00 AM. If the truck travels at 30 mph, it will reach the intended delivery point at 10:00 AM, an hour early. If the truck travels at 20 mph, it will arrive at noon, an hour late.

How many miles is it to the destination? ... and how fast should truck travel to make delivery on time?

d=v*t
d=30*(t-1)
d=20*(t+1)
30*(t-1)=20*(t+1)
30t-30=20t+20
10t=50
t=5
d=30*(5-1)=120

120=v*t
120=v*5
v=120/5=24 mph

Answer:
d=120 miles
v=24 mph
t= 5 hours
