Five and Two

To express the number 25 using only one 5 and one 2, you could write -> 5^2 (this site wouldn't allow posting of a superscript ... however, if you were writing you could express 25 with only a 5 and a 2).

Can you find another way to express 25 using only one 5 and one 2 and two arithmetic operators?

So 5/.2 isn't allowed! Tricky.

could it be:

-5^2 ...?

No, because that is -25. But it could be (-5)^2. Parenthesis only modify the precedence of operators, they are not operators themselves. So I think you've satisfied the (new!) rules.
