Share the Profits

A small restaurant business ended its year with $7920 in a profit sharing plan for its employees. The cooks profit sharing amounted to $302 more than the waitress, $882 more than the busboy, and $960 more than the dishwasher.

How much did each receive?

You'll probably find that lying on that sort of loose change. Ask permission before looking - you've been warned.

Now for the details. In a self-evident notation:
c = w + 302 = b + 882 = d + 960.
c + w + b +d = 7920
=> c + (c-302) + (c-882) + (c-960) = 7920
=> 4c - 2144 = 7920 => c = 2516
w = 2516 - 302 = 2214
b = 2516 - 882 = 1634
d = 2516 - 960 = 1556
