A Couple of Quickies
Whilst away on holiday, some wee chappie presented me with these quick and easy teasers. They should take no more than a couple of seconds each, so please time your selves..... The bravest may wish to publish their times (to the nearest second!)
1. What is the most amount of (US) change/coinage you can have without being able to split a dollar bill?
2. What is the most amount of (UK) change/coinage you can have without being able to split a pound?
3. And following on from 2. splitting a £5.00 note?
4. Too easy, but which two numbers, when squared add up to 100? I'm ashamed to put this question in, but please, no calculators, and a 5 second limit!

1. 99c ?
2. 2 quid
3. 4 quid 99
4. 6 and 8
Oops, forgot to time myself, and probably got it wrong anyway !
1. It seemed too easy...99cents?
2. I don't have the slightest idea how to split a pound-too ignorant of foreign countries :(
3. Read my answer to "2."
4. 8 and 6.
Actually, you could have an infinite number of 2 quid coins and not be able to split 1 pound or a 5 quid note.
1. 3 quarters, 4 dimes, 4 pennies
= %1.19
Ragknot...how can you have 1.3 quarters?
Sorry, for the confusion.
That was question No. 1
followed by 3 quarters.
My 5 seconds was up so I had to quit after Number 1.
I think you knew that, your pulling my leg huh?
Why didn't you ask why I put %1.19 instead of $1.19?
Don't know the currencies, but last 1 is 4 and 8 and i did it under 5 secs :)
Zandy,
4 and 8? that's 16 and 64, not enough.
I was checking in to see if anyone had a better solution to number 1.
Qu 1. Ragknot scores at $1.19
Qu 4. 6 & 8 Eketahuna in first.
Qu 2 & 3 were the trick questions, which I hoped people may be distracted by the easy questions either side. Eketahuna spotted that you could have as many £2 coins as have ever been/will be made and not be able to split a £1 coin or a Fiver.
