Find the Fault
A wonderful depiction of traffic in the thirties (the era these puzzle cards come from). What is wrong in this picture ? The English drive on the left so that's not it.

I believe the red light on a stoplight is normally the top one ... rather than the bottom as is depicted.

There is a STOP sign in the road, yet the intersection is controlled by traffic lights (if the position of the Red/Green lights being incorrect is incorrect)
Also, there are no shadows for the people on the other side of the intersection
I believe my stoplight comment is the correct answer ... but, I've never seen pavement that tannish color.
The tyres are white? And he looks like he's mixing crossplys with radials!
Also, I would like to take umbrage at the phrasing of the question....
"What is wrong in this picture ? The English drive on the left so that's not it."
The implication being that we here in good ole Blighty drive on the wrong side of the road!
You impudent young whipersnapper! When I have finished my afternoon tea and cucumber sandwiches, I shall have something to say about this slanderous comment!!! ;-)
I believe it is the stoplight but if it is not that, i believe the steering wheel would be on the right side of the car and not the left according to the side of the road that they drive on.
since all we have is the picture, we don't know if the snapshot captured the vehicle as it moved through the intersection ... or, if it parked in the intersection. If parked, then ...
Maybe, a better question would be "what's right with this picture?" :-)
ok ... I'd like to take this opportunity to blame the silliness of this post on ... medication. :)
And it's not just the English, us Kiwi's and those Ozzies over the ditch also drive on the correct side of the road :)

I agree that there shouldn't be a stop sign at a traffic-light controlled junction, and also the red light should be at the top, but maybe these things were different in the thirties?
I'm not sure about that, but perhaps the fault is that the woman's shadow appears to be about the same length as that of the traffic-light which is probably twice as tall as she is.
why is the car going backwards?
It just looks that way, due to the way the doors opened back then
I also agree with Dual ... the shadows of the woman and the stoplight post are not correctly proportional.
If you notice, the shadow of the lady is as long as the shadow of the traffic light. The traffic light should project a longer shadow.
The building on the right is skewed. You can see more of the side vs. the building on the left.
The style of the foreground woman's coat and cap is much more modern than the old car crossing our line of sight. :-)
are we going to get an answer to this one?

The style of the building on the right is way too modern for England in the thirties.
1. The auto seemed to be having trouble, it's been there for a week.
2. Pavement is yellow, bad fault.
3. The shadows are wrong.
4. The sky is wrong. It is supposed to brighter overhead.
5. The picture is copyrighted, did you get permission to use it?
I give up.
I blew it up, the driver is on the wrong side of the auto for England.
found answer
correct answer is:
Red and green lights have been swapped
James ...
did you submit the problem?
for left drive the vehicle should be driven in right side of the road:-))
Solution
------------------------
There is a STOP sign in the road, yet the intersection is controlled by traffic light.
This never happens !
so Eketahuna was the first to get this right
why is there a stoplight right after and before the intersection. if there is one before, why after too? and why are some street lights on the left and some on the right?
