Make 383 out of 1,2,25,50,75,100 using +,-,*,/

That’s the question that landed on my lap a few moments ago – don’t know wether we are supposed to use all the integers, or some of them, once only, or more than once…. but hey… I’m not here to give you the answers!!! BTW you may have guessed – I don’t have an answer yet…

    Seems to easy to use each one as often as you want, so it must be use each one time. After plenty of trial and error I found a solution which uses each number one time but not a minus sign.

    ((50 + 2)/25 + 1) * 100 + 75 = 383

    i tried trial and error for maybe half an hour and just got mad. hats off to you John24.

  3. 3. Dual Aspect Said:

    Errr, sorry John24 I may be going crazy but how does your equation equal 383?

    Unless I’m reading it wrong I make it either 275, or possibly 350 if you do the second addition before the multiplication.

  4. 4. Dual Aspect Said:

    Ah, sorry I see it now.

    (52/25)+1 = 3.08

    I was reading this as 52/(25+1)

    My mistake.

  5. 5. ragknot Said:

    383 =((50 + 2)/25 + 1) * 100 + 75

    John24 was right.
