A Simple Equation

Posted by Rajesh Lal on March 27, 2010 – 8:36 pm
Something for the Weekend:-
1 + 23 – 4 + 5 – 6 + 78 + 9 = 106
The digits 1 through 9 are used in order to arrive at 106.
Using 1 through 9 in order, and using only addition or subtraction, create an equation that equals 100.

    123+4-5+67-89=100

    I take againt your sequence

    1 + 23 – 4 + 5 – 6 + 78 + 9 = 106

In order to have 100, I just change the sign of (1) & (5)

    -1 +23 – 4 – 5 – 6 +78 + 9 = 100

  3. 3. Dual Aspect Said:

Dipesh: you have a total of 90

Patrick: you have a total of 94 (by reversing the sign of digits totalling 6 you are actually deducting a total of 12)

  4. 4. Dual Aspect Said:

    123 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 + 8 – 9 = 100

  5. 5. Dual Aspect Said:

Dipesh – apologies, I misread your post, you also had a solution for 100

  6. 6. Jenniferm Said:

    1 + 2 + 3 – 4 + 5 + 6 + 78 + 9 = 100
